Eight months before taking over as president of New College of Florida, Richard Corcoran co-founded two companies, Continental Strategy, LLC and Continental, PLLC. The companies share partners and operate out of the same offices in Washington, D.C., Tallahassee, Miami, and Buenos Aires.
According to the Florida Bar Association, Corcoran’s wife is a partner and shareholder with Continental, PLLC.
Marva Johnson, named incoming president of FAMU, is Group Vice President, State Government Affairs for Charter Communications. So far this year, Charter Communications has paid Continental Strategy, LLC $90,000 [page 1, item 18].
New College of Florida has paid Continental Strategy $25,000 [p.2 item 21] so far in 2025; Corcoran’s New College has paid directly into the pool his wife is paid from.
Continental Strategy, LLC has also received $15,000 [p. 2 item 7] from Florida International University, where DeSantis’s Lieutenant Governor is now president; and $30,000 [p. 3, item 4] from the University of North Florida.
Continental PLLC received $150,000 [p. 2 item 9] from GEO Group, among the world’s largest private prison operators—including at least 14 ICE detainment facilities. Before being named president of Florida Atlantic University, Hasner was an executive vice president at the GEO Group.
Continental PLLC received $30,000—$10,000 in September, October, and November of 2024, from the Republican National Committee. Joe Gruters, husband of Sydney Gruters, executive director of New College of Florida’s foundation, is the Republican National Committee treasurer.
